エゾフクロウ Hokkaido Ural owl

エゾフクロウは日本全体に分布し、北海道のものはやや白く、南下するほど黒くなり、九州では顔が黒々としています。北海道に生息する地域亜種をエゾフクロウと呼んでいるようです。
営巣は樹洞が主ですが、昼はほとんど活動せずこのように寝ています。夜になると野ネズミ・小鳥などを捕まえて食べ、昼間と打って変わって猛禽類らしい獰猛さがみられます。

This bird is most frequently seen in coniferous or mixed forests or woodland from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe in a band across Asia to Japan.
There are also isolated populations in China and in Central Europe from Poland down to Albania.
Their main food is rodents, but they also take birds and squirrels.

エゾフクロウのひなです。
鶴居村で5月31日撮影したものです。
まだ飛べないので、移動する場合は地面にいったん降りて歩いて違う木に登るか、枝から枝に渡るかのどちらかになります。
地面に降りた際が一番襲われやすく危険のようで、夜間行動するとのことです。

この写真は写真家・ネイチャーガイドの方に案内されて撮った写真です。番いのフクロウはなかなか撮影できないため貴重な1枚になりました。

NikonD300 200mm ISO400 1/640sec F/6.3 絞り優先巣の下には夜間捕獲して食したネズミの毛の塊が落ちています。空の樹洞の下にネズミの毛の塊や糞があればそのうちにフクロウは戻ってくる可能性が高いと判ります。

There is a lump of rat's fur under their nest. If you find the lump of rat's fur or droppings under the empty nest, it suggests owl will come home before long.
This photo was taken around Nakashibetsu in Hokkaidou. I want to tell details, but I can't, because these owls says "Let us alone."

エゾフクロウは日本全体に分布し、北海道のものはやや白く、南下するほど黒くなり、九州では顔が黒々としています。北海道に生息する地域亜種をエゾフクロウと呼んでいるようです。
この撮影場所は知る人ぞ知る場所で、写真集にもよく出てきており、この特徴ある形の樹洞ですぐにわかります。道路から撮影でき高齢者も安心して撮影できるので、教えてしまうとかなり多くの人が来てしまうため、保護の観点から教えられません。
Ural Owls are living all arouund of Japan. Which living in Hokkaido are whitish in color, but living in Kyushu where is southern of Japan are blackish in color.
